Welcome to the Ouachita Hoyo Observatory, tucked away in the quiet forests of Mena, Arkansas, where dark skies and a lifelong curiosity for the universe meet.

This observatory started as a simple idea — just a concrete pier poured in the ground so I could mount my telescope and enjoy the night sky more steadily. But like most good projects, it grew. One improvement led to another, and before long that single pier evolved into a fully functional, solar-powered, roll-off-roof observatory built over several months of planning, designing, and hands-on work.

Today, the observatory houses multiple telescopes, cameras, and tools for deep-sky imaging, real-time sky monitoring, and quiet nights spent exploring everything from nebulae and galaxies to the subtle glow of the Milky Way rising over the Ouachitas.

Whether you’re here to view the latest AllSky images, browse astrophotos, or follow along with the ongoing projects around the observatory, I’m glad you stopped by.
Clear skies — and enjoy the view from the Ouachita Hoyo.
